When L Makeup Institute (LMI) opened its doors in 2010, it was the first of its kind in Las Vegas. We wanted to create a place where students could follow their passions and dive into the world of makeup artistry and special effects. Our History
Visionary professional makeup artist Lissette Waugh founded our institute. She wanted to create something for those who share her passion for makeup and beauty. Growing up in Las Vegas, she realized a need for makeup-specific courses. That’s why in 2010, she opened a space and began teaching others. L Makeup Institute has now become an accredited school with two beautiful locations.
Because of Lissette Waugh’s dedication and passions, makeup artistry is now a stand-alone industry in Nevada. Now, you can enroll in dedicated makeup artistry programs rather than taking a couple of makeup courses in a cosmetology program.
About the Founder
The “L” in L Makeup Institute stands for Lissette. Lissette Waugh has always had a passion for makeup and beauty. She started her career in esthetics, working in a hair salon doing skin care and bridal makeup. This is where she could network herself and gain a large clientele all by word of mouth. After developing a name for herself, she became the makeup director at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, where she worked with different celebrities, like Paris Hilton and TLC.

In this program, you can learn all the skills and techniques to help your career as a makeup artist and deepen your understanding of special effects makeup. This program is designed to test you technically and artistically. Whether you desire to do beauty makeup, special effects, or airbrush art, this program will teach you it all. Our school is built on the foundation of the VAK method. VAK stands for Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic. All our instructors teach in this method as it is an important part of our school.
