Journey 1 prioritizes career development, providing students with guidance on initiating and managing their careers. This includes comprehensive business training, best practices and pricing strategies. Students also gain practical experience by applying makeup during photo shoots designed to replicate real-world scenarios. The results are captured digitally, offering valuable content to build professional portfolios.

Mastering the Art of BEAUTY

This immersive beauty makeup course guides students from foundational skills to advanced artistry, blending theory with extensive hands-on practice. Covering everything from skin preparation to on-camera techniques, the program develops the expertise needed for a variety of makeup styles—from everyday beauty to editorial and film. In today’s industry, makeup artists are often expected to have a working knowledge of hairstyling for film, television, photography, fashion, and stage. On-set hairstyling is not about cosmetology salon services, but about creating looks that support character, enhance storytelling, and translate beautifully on camera.
Throughout this course, you will learn on-set hairstyling techniques that complement makeup artistry, to create cohesive, believable characters that prepare you for real-world production settings.

This advanced body painting and airbrush course builds on foundational skills to help students bring bold, imaginative concepts to life. Training covers precision airbrush techniques, anatomy-based designs, realistic textures, and effects like clothing illusions and scales. Students also learn full character creation, from makeup and prosthetic application to costume design, hairpieces, and bald caps. With a focus on creativity and professionalism, the program prepares graduates for work in film, television, cosplay, and other creative industries.

Our application process consists of 3 simple steps. Complete a student application and pay a $100 application fee, secure funding to pay for the course or program of study, then complete the interview process.

What are the admissions requirements for the Beauty Makeup Program?
Applicants must be at least 17 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. After applying, you’ll meet with an admissions advisor to discuss your goals and confirm your fit for the Beauty Makeup Program.
What is the class schedule for LMI's Professional Makeup Classes?
Classes run Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Fridays through Sundays are free for work, practice, or rest.
How large are the classes in the Beauty Makeup Program?
We keep classes small so every artist gets personalized instruction and feedback. You’ll get one-on-one time with instructors and plenty of hands-on experience.
What’s included in the makeup kit for the Beauty Makeup Program?
You’ll receive a professional makeup kit with top industry products, lab supplies, equipment, books, and materials—everything you need to complete your coursework and start your career.
Each product has been hand-selected by professionals and comes with in-depth product knowledge. LMI partners with brands like Make Up For Ever and Ben Nye, trusted favorites that support artists and education worldwide.
