Are you an experienced SFX makeup artist or a graduate of L Makeup Institute’s Journey 2 – Special Effects Makeup Program looking to master advanced techniques in special effects? Our Advanced Prosthetics Course is a 170-hour, hands-on training program built for professionals ready to take their SFX makeup skills to the next level.
Students receive detailed instruction in full head life-casting, dental casting, sculpting, and advanced multi-piece molding techniques. The Advanced Prosthetics Course curriculum includes foam latex formulation, creating a full foam latex cowl, and working with encapsulated platinum silicone prosthetic appliances. Students complete a dual-layered, full head and neck prosthetic application and study final character development. The course ends with a digital photo studio session, giving students the opportunity to professionally photograph their prosthetic work to enhance the students SFX makeup portfolio.
